Rueben (also known as 'Boots') and I made To Magic Horizons as our Senior Project, our final assignment in high school. We had one month to create Horizons, from concept to showing (the final cut was finished less than one hour before said showing).

Eden, loosely inspired by John Milton's Paradise Lost, was my response to a school project assignment asking for a creative interpretation of the poem. I had learned the fur-paint technique from an Alias tutorial some time before, and I was waiting for a good opportunity to use the technique. Creating an Eden seemed like the perfect opportunity.

Itching to animate and inspired by the name "Defective Studios," Rueben created the DS Promo. The DS Promo was rendered on Mental Ray.

Stuck in Boston traffic at 2 in the morning, Jono and Matt heard Pinkly Smooth's "Unfortunate Snort" for the first time. Blaring the ghoulish "Necromancer Theme," Matt remarks:
"Ooh, we should make a video."
And the second track, "Mezmer," begins:
     "Ooh, this one!"
     And that was that.

We hope to eventually turn this animatic into a 3d / film composite video.
